General

Who are Drive‑Up Self‑Store  
We provide clean, dry and secure drive‑up container storage across Wigan, Chorley, Rainford and Standish. Simple online booking, instant access and no long‑term contracts.
How do I book a unit  
Either completed a booking online or call the office who are happy to help complete the booking for you. Choose your site, pick a unit size,
and set up payment. Your access details are sent instantly.
Do I need to visit before booking  
No. Everything is done online and access is automatic. If you want to view a unit, just contact us and we’ll arrange it.

Access & Security

When can I access my unit  
6am to 10pm access at all sites.
How secure are the sites  
All locations have gated access, CCTV, security lighting and heavy‑duty container locks. Only authorised customers can enter.
Do I need my own padlock  
No, you are provide with a heavy duty padlock.  Please do not add any additional padlocks to the container.

Payments & Contracts

How do payments work 
Payments are taken automatically via card or direct debit.
Is there a minimum stay  
Minimum term is 4 weeks
How do I cancel  
Just log into your customer portal and request to end your rental. Once the unit is empty and unlocked, your billing stops.

StoreProtect™


Do I need Insurance / Protection
Yes — all stored items must be insured or protected. so you will need to provide proof of your cover or select StoreProtect as you complete your booking. Most home insurance policies don’t cover self‑storage.
What is StoreProtect 
StoreProtect is our enhanced liability protection that covers your stored items for their full replacement value. It can be added during booking.  Visit the StoreProtect page for more information
How much cover do I need  
Choose the value of the items you’re storing. Most customers select between £1,000 and £10,000.

Unit Sizes

What size unit do I need 
We offer 8ft, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft units. The 20ft is by far the most popular and suits most customers.
Can I upgrade or downsize later  
Yes. If a different size is available, you can switch at any time.

What You Can & Can’t Store

What can I store  
Furniture, boxes, tools, business stock, equipment, household items and most non‑perishable goods.
What can’t I store
  • Food or perishable items
  • Animals
  • Illegal goods
  • Flammables or explosives
  • Gas bottles
  • Cash, jewellery or high‑value personal items
  • Anything that could leak, rot or cause damage
If you’re unsure, just ask.

Moving In & Out

How do I move in  
Once you book, you receive your access instructions instantly. Drive straight up to your unit and start unloading.
What do I need to do when moving out  
You need to provide 2 weeks notice. Empty the unit, sweep it out, remove your padlock.  Once it is confirmed that your unit is empty, clean and the padlock returned, your deposit will be returned.

Business Storage

Can businesses use your units  
Yes. Many trades, e‑commerce sellers and contractors use our sites for stock, tools and equipment.
Do you provide VAT invoices  
Yes — all invoices are VAT‑itemised and available in your customer portal.
